Posting results for 2020 JAE will be out from 9am next Tuesday (Feb 4).

Students will receive the results by SMS and can also assess them online through the JAE portal.

Students posted to Millennia Institute (MI) or a junior college (JC) must report to school next Wednesday (Feb 5) by 7.30am.

Students attending polytechnics or ITEs will receive further instructions through mail.

JAE – Joint Admissions Exercise

 

What is JAE?

JAE is the Joint Admissions Exercise carried out by the Ministry of Education (MOE) for ‘O’ Level certificate holders to apply for courses in Junior Colleges (JC), Millennia Institute (MI), Polytechnics (Poly) and Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
It is conducted every year.

Students who have accepted conditional offers to a polytechnic or ITE course through the Early Admissions Exercise in 2019 and have had their offers confirmed based on their examination results will not be eligible to participate in the JAE.

 

When Can I Submit My JAE Registration?

The JAE will open from 3pm next Monday Jan 13 to 4pm on Jan 17.

JAE posting results are due to be released on Feb 4.

What is JAE Form A?

The JAE Form A indicates your JAE PIN number, GCE ‘O’ Level examination results, your aggregate scores computed for the respective institutions and the eligible courses you can apply to. 
Most importantly, it indicates the deadline for you to register your course choices. 
You will receive your Form A either from your secondary schools or through your mailing address if you are a private candidate.

 

What is JAE Appeal?

JAE Appeal allow you to appeal if you do not want to accept the course you have been offered. You can appeal for a course if you meet the course cut-off points.
However, do note if you are successful in your appeal for a new course, you will be giving up your previous offered course.
If you are unsuccessful, you will still be able to accept the course previously offered to you.
You can apply up to 6 courses.
The joint appeal portal allows you to appeal for all the 5 polytechnics courses at the same time.

What is O level L1R5?

The aggregate range for L1R5, excluding Bonus Points, are used as an eligibility criteria for admission to JCs.

Can CCA Bonus Points be Used for JC to Fulfill the Eligibility Criteria?

No.

CCA points cannot be used to meet the entry requirements for JC or MI.

However, the bonus points will be given to students in the computation of their net aggregate scores.

 

Can CCA Bonus Points be Used for Poly to Fulfill the Eligibility Criteria?

No.

CCA points cannot be used to meet the entry requirements for polytechnics.

However, the bonus points will be given to students in the computation of their net ELR2B2 aggregate score.

 

Is CCA Compulsory in JC?

No.
It is not compulsory for JC students to participate in CCA.

However, it is strongly encouraged as you can develop talents and skills not taught in classrooms or lectures.

The ELR2B2 is used to distinguish the relevant subjects for entry to the respective polytechnic courses.

How Long is a Poly Course?

A full-time poly course offering a diploma typically takes 3 years to complete.

 

Can CCA Bonus Points be Used for Poly?

Yes. 

Under the JAE for admission to polytechnics, the CCA Bonus Point can be used to determine the net ELR2B2 aggregate score.

 

Is CCA compulsory in Poly?

No.
It is not compulsory for polytechnic students to participate in CCA. However, it is strongly encouraged as you can develop talents and skills not taught in classrooms or lectures.

 

What is JPAE?

The Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE) is organized by the five Polytechnics for ITE Higher NITEC or NITEC holders.

 

When will JPAE be open?

Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE) application will open from 24 Feb 2020, 9am to 28 Feb 2020, 4pm.

 

Can Nitec Go to Poly?

Yes.
For applicants holding Nitec qualifications you must achieve Grade Point Average (GPA) of ≥ 3.5. For applicants holding Higher Nitec qualifications, the GPA requirement is ≥ 2.0.

Singapore Polytechnic is known for its Marine Engineering and strong internship ties with the marine and shipping industry.

 

What is Ngee Ann Poly Known for?

Ngee Ann Polytechnic is known for its Mass Communication.
