Chamber fired a bullet horizontally at a speed of 65m/s towards KAY/O who is standing 300m away. Assume the highest point of KAY/O’s body is 104m below the initial position of the bullet.

Solution

First, find the time of flight for the bullet:
$ t = \frac{300}{65} $
$ = 4.62s $

Then find the vertical displacement travelled:
$s_y = ut + \frac{1{}2}at^2 $
$ = 0 + \frac{1}{2}(9.81)(4.62)^2 $
$ = 104.69m $

Since the vertical displacement is 104.69m > 104m, Chamber’s bullet will strike KAY/O.
